I was just reading over some older messages from the Marylib listserv and noticed this announcement about a Social Networking Symposium on Thursday, April 10 in Baltimore. It's free too.

Subject: Mark your calendars! Social Networking Symposium
On April 10, 2008, the University of Maryland, Baltimore Health Sciences
and Human Services Library will host a day-long symposium on social
networking tools in higher education. This event is free and no
registration is required.
Breakfast will be served at 8:30 am followed by a keynote address and
panel presentation. Keynote speaker Andy Carvin, National Public Radio's
senior product manager for online communities, will present. Afternoon
programming includes privacy in a 2.0 world, social learning using cell
phone technology, instruction with 3D social tools, use of web 2.0 in
academia, and hands-on workshops.
Throughout the day, exhibitors will be demonstrating their products in
the Library's Weise Gallery. To conclude the event, join us for a
reception and final thoughts.
